Trusted care on campus
The school nurses provide a caring environment for all students and staff. Our nurses are available for the well-being of the school community, handling situations ranging from minor scrapes to chronic conditions.
The infirmary is an integral part of IIL and is open from 8:00 to 17:00 every day. The school nurses work in close collaboration with the school’s doctor, Dr. Brigitte Zirbs, management, educational teams and parents in order to provide the best possible and most thorough care for each student. The nurses, also part of the KiVa intervention team, participate in the development and the physical and psychological well-being of the students.
In their capacity as health professionals, school nurses are subject to medical confidentiality. They provide first aid in the event of health problems or accidents at school, notify parents and, if necessary, refer them to appropriate medical facilities.
For temporary conditions, they supervise the administration of specific treatments (only possible with a medical prescription).
For chronic illnesses (diabetes, asthma, epilepsy in particular) or allergies, they monitor the health of the students and set up protocols to deal with emergencies.
In all cases, collaboration with the parents and the details provided to the school in the health forms are essential to the proper care of the children.
A nurse is also present for the IIL camps taking place on campus during school vacations.
