IIL’s art program
9 December 2021Have you heard about our art program ?
Options are studied in the form of workshops : cinema-audiovisual and arts . We specialise in fine arts giving our students the opportunity to experiment their creativity.
Our aim is to prepare our students for the Baccalaureate either as an option or specialisation and thus preparing them for entrance into either the best art or architectural schools.
What is our approach ?
We teach our students to be autonomous thus enabling each individual the opportunity to hone their artistic skills outside of school and in years to come.
We favour practical work allowing the students to hone their skills for the final exams, this practical work represents a large part of the examination.
At IIL, students have access to a workshop where they can come and go to work on personal projects at any time during the day. This space is open to all students, they have the opportunity to gain advice and direction from our art teachers.
Throughout the year, we prepare our students in the presentation of their portfolios: a dossier which highlights their artistic achievements and is representative of their talent for entrance into the top art schools and also any external competitions.
How is our program structured?
Our program is made up of five two monthly sectors:
- The scenography sector is a study of how art and its environment impact on people.
- The fine arts sector is the study of basic drawing skills and applied arts, the development of modern art through to contemporary art and the use of textures and materials.
- The Digital art sector is about making sure that the student is familiar with visual and numerical tools and what professional opportunities are to be had in the world of digital art.
- Architecture and design sector is the study of construction.
- Photograpghy and video art sector
During the year, students with an option in art will study five works of art and the use of different mediums for expression.
If circumstances allow and restrictions are respected art outings can be arranged. We also encourage our students to participate in artistic events and in particular to attend open days at art schools.
What are our art options ?
From the 2e, our students can choose an art option consisting of three hours per week. They will have the opportunity to learn different art techniques, audio visual art and film.
What is the specialisation Fine Arts ?
From the 1e, students can continue their studies in Fine Arts and increase the number of hours per week to six hours in Terminale. Our work spaces are equipped with the latest technology and we give them the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the latest digital tools, graphic such as Creative clouds amongst others. These are currently used today by professionals in this field and necessary for the further development in certain disciplines.
What career plans do our students have ?
We endeavour to guide our students so that they accomplish their ambitions in whatever sector. Currently, the artistic careers being pursued are designer, graphic designer, textile designer or even film director.
In IIL, students can choose the projects that they work on. We can for example set up a sewing workshop where the student will be able to work with different fabrics and create their own artistic project.
