International day against violence and bullying in schools
20 November 2024Since 2019, the first Thursday in November has been declared ‘International day against violence and bullying in Schools’ by UNESCO. At the Institut International de Lancy, our priority is for every child to feel safe and protected in their school environment, and we place bullying prevention at the heart of our commitment. As the first school in Switzerland to adopt the KiVa anti-bullying programme, we have been implementing concrete and effective measures for several years now to actively prevent bullying at our school.
All our pupils, at both primary and secondary level, benefit from preventive lessons based on essential values such as tolerance, respect and caring, and we also raise awareness among school staff, ensuring a calm and caring environment for all.
IIL also supports schools looking to implement this programme, as the Institute has been a certified partner of the KiVa programme since 2023. Based on extensive research, its effectiveness has been demonstrated through numerous studies. This is why it is crucial to strengthen this fight on a global scale, an effort that IIL actively pursues by training other schools in Switzerland and internationally.
Through these initiatives, we aim not only to prevent bullying, but also to promote a school climate where everyone feels valued and respected.
