The City of Lancy rewards IIL
24 October 2024On 21 September at the “Fête de l’Abeille et du Terroir”, and in the presence of Mr Damien Bonfanti, Administrative Councillor in charge of sustainable development, the City of Lancy awarded the Colibri 2024 prize to the Institut International de Lancy for its “Cook and succeed together” project.
Each year, the Colibri prize rewards exemplary achievements in sustainable development in Lancy.
Launched in 2022, the “Cook and succeed together” project regularly mobilises IIL students, parents and staff. They prepare and distribute meals to the needy several times a week, using surplus food from the school catering service. “By combating food waste, the project perfectly embodies the values of solidarity, social cohesion and environmental responsibility promoted by the Municipality. The jury praised the sustainability, local impact and educational dimension of the initiative, which could be replicated in other areas,” explained Administrative Councillor Damien Bonfanti.
“We are particularly proud to receive this prize, which rewards the commitment of the entire community and echoes the values of our school. It reminds us that everyone can make a difference and contribute to building a better world,” commented Monique Roiné, Director General of the Institut International de Lancy.
